About Us

Founder Leigh Boyle DPT, CSCS

My name is Leigh Boyle and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). By day I am the co-owner of a private physical therapy practice in Southern New Hampshire. Our clinic specializes in sports medicine and orthopedic injuries and we see anything from ankle sprains to surgical reconstructions and most everything in between. Personally, certified in the Graston Technique and Active Release Therapy (ART), both of which are soft tissue mobilization techniques. In my free time, I am primarily a long distance triathlete (2011 will be my 9th season and will include my 6th Ironman distance race), cyclocross junkie, wannabe roadie, xc-skier (biathlon hopeful!) and sometimes road runner.

I founded Athletes Treating Athletes in January of 2010 with one goal in mind- to build the best one stop resource for endurance athletes working through or trying to prevent overuse injuries. As an athlete, I know first hand how difficult it is to train through pain or be sidelined by an injury. I also know how frustrating it is for the first medical advice you hear to always be “stop doing sport X” instead of here’s what we can do to fix the problem and here’s what you should do to modify your training until then. As an athlete and a clinician, I can tell you first hand that there is almost always a gap between the start of an overuse injury and the point where you require professional treatment for it. With a little work and some dedication, you can catch problems in that gap and prevent symptoms/problems from becoming full season stopping injuries. In fact, thanks to the recent boom in recovery products, it’s now easier than ever. The A-T-A site wants to show you how to do this.

The Team

For this project, I wanted to assemble a team of multi-disciplinary health care professionals who could contribute their expertise. As we move forward, more “consultants” will be added. This way each profession will be able to chime in to give you the best picture of what services are available to you. Here are some of the upcoming guests you’ll be hearing from:

Vince Hoffart DC

Vince Hoffart has been in active practice as a Chiropractor since 1991 in Rocklin, CA. Dr. Hoffart has extensive post-graduate training in Active Release Techniques (ART) and is Full-Body Certified in addition to training in: Biomechanics, Accident Reconstruction (UC Riverside) and a variety of Chiropractic techniques to care for his patient population. In any given week Dr. Hoffart will treat a young child for neck pain, an Ironman athlete for an injured knee or ankle or a 97 year old woman for low back pain.

Physically, Dr. Hoffart has run the gamut from being a slim basketball dunking athlete in his youth to a clinically obese, near diabetic 270 lbs man at the age of 37. It was then that he decided to change his lifestyle to reflect more of what he wanted to see his children (5 boys and 2 girls) emulate. After losing 90 lbs. he now competes in triathlons and did his first Ironman at Wisconsin 2008 with a time of 12:25.
